Melinda McKnight

During her tenure as Supervisor and on the Town Board (2019 - 2023), Melinda practiced fiscal responsibility by reducing residents’ property taxes by 5% and improved resident services. She saved the town thousands of dollars by improving efficiency in local government operations and hired proper legal representation for all the town boards to prevent costly errors.  She was also responsive to residents by working full-time for the people to listen to & solve problems. She also started the monthly newsletter to communicate more effectively with residents.  She also worked with the Climate Smart Task Force to achieve Bronze status as a Climate Smart Community, and worked to expand the Catskill Mountain Scenic Byway to include the Town of Hurley.
